Management Team
Ania Knap, PhD, with 17 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, is a MaxThera co-founder and is President and Chief Scientific Officer. Previously, Dr. Knap was Sr. Director of Drug Discovery at Genome Therapeutics where she directed the antibacterial drug discovery efforts. Dr. Knap also held R&D leadership roles at Amgen (Kinetix), RiboGene and Novartis.
Gavin D. Clark, a chemist with over 25 years pharma industry experience, is MaxThera’s Business Development Consultant. Mr. Clark has held senior commercial roles at major companies such as former CIBA-GEIGY, J&J and Glaxo. He is founder and senior partner of Procela Partners Limited – a Dublin based Life Sciences Consultancy.
He has very extensive experience in Licensing and Business Development and was responsible for global licensing from 1994-99 for the infectious diseases therapeutic area at Glaxo / Glaxo Wellcome and closed a number of key deals – notably the antibacterial licensing deals and research collaborations with Otsuka, Pliva and Paratek. Since then he has been working with US and EU based biotech companies and has continued to provide business development support and close company-transforming deals for companies including Acumen Pharmaceuticals, Tibotec Virco (until the acquisition of the latter by J&J), RioTech Pharmaceuticals and Affimed Therapeutics AG.
Roger Frechette, PhD, with 17 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, is a MaxThera co-founder and is Vice President of Chemistry and R&D Operations. Previously, Dr. Frechette was President of NEPAssociates, a drug discovery consultancy. Prior to this, Dr. Frechette held Drug Discovery leadership positions at Paratek Pharmaceuticals and at RiboGene. He began his pharmaceutical research career as a Medicinal Chemist at Johnson & Johnson’s R.W. Johnson Pharmaceutical Research Institute.
